About Me
Duke A Bennett was born and raised in Terre Haute, Indiana. He is a graduate of Terre Haute North, Ivy Tech Community College and Indiana Wesleyan University. He has been married to his wife, Pam (Ugo), for 33 years. Together they have two children, a grandson and a granddaughter.
Since becoming Mayor in 2008, Duke is the third-longest serving Mayor in Terre Haute history. He has been instrumental in reducing Terre Haute's crime to one of the lowest rates in 24 years, and restoring and maintaining a balanced budget for the past four years. Bennett's passion for his community is innate while his involvement and community interest began before his election. He has served on numerous boards, past and present and currently sits on 21 boards and commissions.
Bennett passionately and purposely advocates on behalf of Terre Haute. His partnership on the Food & Beverage tax, legislation for a Vigo County casino and his new role as co-chair on the See You In Terre Haute 2025 Community Plan has helped elevate this city many love to call home.
